Apple Announces CarPlay Vehicle Integration Feature Demo Videos and It Works Alongside BlackBerrys QNX Car Platform

CarPlay is limited to Lightning-enabled iPhones (iPhone 5, 5c, 5s), the feature can be summoned and controlled on compatible cars through Siri voice control, on-board buttons, and a touchscreen. From there, users are able to make calls, return missed calls, listen to voicemail, get spoken, turn-by-turn directions using Apple’s Maps application, and Music. Third party apps such as Beats Radio, iHeartRadio, Stitcher, and Spotify are also supported, with Apple promising compatibility with more apps soon.
“CarPlay has been designed from the ground up to provide drivers with an incredible experience using their iPhone in the car,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of iPhone and iOS Product Marketing. “iPhone users always want their content at their fingertips and CarPlay lets drivers use their iPhone in the car with minimized distraction. We have an amazing lineup of auto partners rolling out CarPlay, and we’re thrilled it will make its debut this week in Geneva.”We’ve seen several leaked photos and videos of how the feature will work, Apple has not provided much details, except for some signals on the strength of the feature. Apple executives went on record to say that the functionality was "very important to the company" and is an essential "part of the ecosystem," some rumors claimed that CarPlay was plagued by development issues.
However, a new promotional video by Volvo, one of the launch partners, have just given us the first glimpse of what Apple CarPlay’s user interface will look like.
Volvo also goes a step beyond the basic CarPlay implementation to take advantage of the large portrait touch screen on the upcoming XC90 SUV, making both Apple and Volvo controls available simultaneously.
Volvo enhances Apple’s capabilities by linking them to a specially-developed interface that allows drivers to use voice and touch controls to access Apple features and services, ensuring the entire interaction is always safe and easy to use.The press release also reveals that CarPlay currently will require a wired connection using an iPhones Lightning connector, Wi-Fi connectivity will be "coming in the near future".
With Apple CarPlay, users will immediately recognise their basic iPhone applications, such as phone, messages, music and navigation. The initial offer also features third party audio apps including Spotify, the popular music streaming service.
After Volvo, Mercedes-Benz also released a seven-minute B-roll overview video, shared by iFun.de. While the clips are repetitive and disjointed as they are meant to be edited together for promotional purposes as needed, the video shows how the system can be controlled without directly touching the screen, using a combination of Siri and a physical control knob.
After the announcement of Apples new CarPlay iOS vehicle integration and the release of promotional materials from launch partners Volvo and Mercedes-Benz, Apple participating in Ferraris launch at the Geneva Motor Show.

The first thing we noticed is how speedy everything is. Apps load quickly, and Siris contextual algorithms hastily recognized our voice commands and responded appropriately. Apple has also implemented safety features to ensure services do not draw your attention away from the road and push forward its "hands-free" theme. For example, when we sent or received a message from a contact, Siri would only read the message back to us and we never once got the chance to see its contents.Jalopnik has a hands-on video of Volvos CarPlay implementation. While the video is of fairly poor quality, it does show somewhat better responsiveness than seen in the Ferrari.
CarPlay iOS vehicle integration system, also has been designed to work with BlackBerrys QNX operating system. The QNX Car Platform powers many in-car infotainment systems and includes a mobile connectivity framework that supports many mobile development environments, including iOS.
In a statement made to Lucas Atkins of N4BB, BlackBerrys Paul Leroux confirmed that CarPlay works alongside the QNX systems installed in many cars.

In addition to Volvo, Ferrari, and Mercedes-Benz that had offered vehicles with CarPlay integration. Other manufacturers, such as BMW Group, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mitsubishi, Nissan, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Subaru, Suzuki, and Toyota, are expected to launch vehicles with CarPlay support in 2014.

Connectivity to smartphones and other mobile devices is a key strength of QNX Software Systems platform for car infotainment systems, and many automakers and tier one automotive suppliers use our platform to implement smartphone/head-unit integration in their vehicles. We have a long-standing partnership with Apple to ensure high-quality connectivity with their devices, and this partnership extends to support for Apple CarPlay.

iOS 7 0 4 Activity Ramping Up at Apple Ahead of Next Minor Software Update
Apple unsurprisingly appears to be ramping up activity on iOS 7.0.4 as the next version of iOS to see a release to the public, with MacRumors seeing increasing numbers of devices running iOS 7.0.4 from Apples networks showing up in web logs.
Visitors to MacRumors.com via Apples networks from devices running iOS 7.0.4
The first signs of iOS 7.0.4 appeared on October 22, the same day iOS 7.0.3 was released to the public. Activity has been ramping up over the past two weeks, but there is no word yet on when the update might be released to the public. Apple has also not seeded registered developers with any builds of iOS 7.0.4, but the company does not always do so for its minor iOS updates.

Visitors to MacRumors.com via Apples networks from devices running iOS 7.1
As we previously noted, iOS 7.1 devices from Apples network began showing up in our logs in late August, and while visits from those devices increased during October, they have declined somewhat during the first week of November. iOS 7.1 would be expected to bring a more substantial number of updates, but it appears that a public launch may yet be some time off with Apple working on a smaller iOS 7.0.4 release.
iOS 8 continues to show very low levels of activity in our logs, with the next major version of Apples iOS software undoubtedly still in the very early stages of development and a public release roughly a year in the future.

An Apple Watch App That Tells You When Youre Going To Die
Do you know, when you are going to die? Of-course not. This app for Apple Watch uses several tools to decide and tells you, when youre going to die.

This app even offers you a timer, that tells you how much time you have left on earth. The idea behind this app was developed by Alaric Cole. He has already made a good use of the Watchkit SDK that Apple has released in the earlier week to develop the test version of his latest app. He has also created a short video in iOS simulator to preview the action.
This app will be available at $0.99 to let you know the demise of your own. As per the video the wearable device by Apple demonstrated the preview of the Deadline version. The Deadline version will show the current time and even the thearetical time that is left in your life.
There are several rules created by Apples Watch SDK tools including the screen resolution and complex interaction methods and that everyone needs to abide striclty.
For more information regarding the Coles Deadline concept for the Apple Watch, check-out the video. The app is already available on iPhone device for iOS 8.

Apple iPhone 5S Slow Motion doesnt capture 720p Video

After all the hype around the so called Slow Motion video mode, it is time to see what it is worth.
The iPhone 5S does deliver slow motion 720p video at but the trick resides in its recording which is not set at 720p despite the new A7 chip.
Here is how it is done.
GsmArena has compared 720p footage from a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to the iPhone 5S when its recorded Slo-Mo video, allegedly at 720p resolution as well. The result is stunning and evidently something is missing from the Apple flagship.

The next shooting was realized at 480p from the Note 3 and then the video was upscaled to 720p. This time, the devices play at the same level.

GsmArena has also release the full frames from the shooting. From left to right : the iPhones 5S, the Note 3 at 720p and the Note 3 at 480p upscaled to 720p :

The shooting capability is not as good as advertised. From viewing videos on your iPhones small screen, it might not be that obvious but when you watch them from your computer or TV, well, that is another story.
But the iPhone 5S video Slo-Mo has a main flow because when you extract those videos, they will be played at 120 fps, so in case you cant slow the videos on your TV, you wont actually see slow motions footages. On your computer, play videos 4X slower to get the trick done.
It sure would have been nice if Apple had managed to make the iPhone 5S outputs slow motion videos at 30 fps processing the change from 120 fps within the device.

Apple to make its iWatch in collaboration with Nike
According to sources close to Apple that got in touch with Techmaniacs.gr the Apple smartwatch (dubbed iWatch) may be conceived in collaboration with long-time fitness band maker Nike.

An iWatch concept

Apple has a long relationship with Nike involving fitness tracking accessories and iPhones have carried the Nike+ app out of box before. According to said sources Apple and Nike will be making the iWatch with focus on tracking more than just fitness but also the user’s constant movement.
Nike recently fired the majority of the team working on its FuelBand product and will likely stop making it. In light of this the company is said to focus it’s fitness-tracking efforts into software, thinking of ways to expand its Nike+ suite and releasing a public API for developers. Apple is reportedly aiming to incorporate that same API into its iWatch for which the company allegedly recently secured the trademark through another firm. Furthermore Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has been seen wearing Nike’s FuelBand and has being sitting on Nike’s board for almost a decade now – strong corporate ties that add credibility to the rumors.
An iWatch concept
But Apple’s smartband device will do more than just follow your fitness routines. According to the sources it will be able to make electronic payments using an iBeacon technology (see this for reference) or possibly the AirDrop Wi-Fi-enabled sharing method introduced with iOS 7. Additionally the smartwatch will be able to use Apple services like CarPlay.
The iWatch is expected to arrive in Q3 of this year. As for the rumor that it will be made by LG exclusivelywe’re not sure. Perhaps Nike will be just a software partner, perhaps something more. Another theory could be that Apple will release a smartwatch and smartband, similarly to competitors like Samsung.
Thanks for the tip!

Apple Iphone 6 Review
Apple Iphone 6
Apple Iphone 6
For years, Android phones have shipped with displays in expansive, 5-inch-ish sizes, but Apple had insisted on the necessity of a small screen for one-handed operation. The iPhone 5S, while powerful, hit a wall in viewing room: its 4-inch screen was among the smallest on the market, and, frankly, I found it limiting.Even with a slightly larger screen, the iPhone remains comfortable to hold. With fast performance, a great display, an elegant new design and a much-needed software update, its one of the best smartphones you can buy right now.Apples unique position lets it control and tightly integrate the hardware and software experiences of its products. We see all of this and more in this years new iPhones.Lets get to our review.
Our Review
Adhering to Apples usual tick-tock cadence, the iPhone 6 flaunts an all-new design. It is a svelte slab of metal and glass. Measuring 6.9mm, it is significantly thinner than the iPhone 5S and is the thinnest iPhone to date. Apple has ditched the straight lines and geometric form of the iPhone, which has been there since the iPhone 4, and has adopted a new design with curved sides which offers sublime in-hand feel. Compared to the iPhone 5S, the difference is big and it is for the better. The new phone is heavier than the iPhone 5S at 126 grams, but one can be easily fooled into thinking that it is lighter than its predecessor. The weight has been balanced brilliantly. Compared to its size, the phone feels incredibly light.f you’ve never heard of Retina before it’s a term trademarked by Apple. It refers to the resolution of the screen — thats the pixels per inch (ppi) a display has and the viewing distance you would typically use it from. It means that even if you have perfect vision you won’t be able to spot pixels in normal use. For the 4.7-inch display on the iPhone 6 that’s 326ppi, the same as every iPhone from the iPhone 4 onwards barring the iPhone 6 Plus, which packs 401ppi.The iPhone 6 uses Apples new A8 processor, designed in-house but based on the industry-standard ARM architecture. Theres a separate co-processor called the M8 for sensor input, which helps save battery life by allowing the A8 to go to sleep while physical activity is constantly detected and processed in the background. The screen is of course larger than those on the iPhone 5 generation models but still a lot smaller than the one on the iPhone 6 Plus. The resolution isnt a huge bump up from that of the iPhone 5 series, and the pixel density is exactly the same. We liked the crisp, bright display on the 6 Plus, and while the one on the iPhone 6 is just as good in terms of quality, it doesnt feel very exciting. Competitors have long surpassed Apple in terms of resolution, and the difference between some of the current Android flagships and the iPhone 6 is definitely noticeable, if ultimately unimportant. There’s one feature that stands out, though, the one that most strongly makes the iPhone 6’s case as the best smartphone on the planet: the camera. The iPhone 6 takes panorama photos in higher resolution now, and in general takes better pictures than any smartphone I’ve ever used. But shooting video is where this iPhone feels most improved. You can shoot 1080p video at 60 frames per second, which is cool, but I spent way more time shooting at 240 frames per second. Slow-motion video is awesome (and available on a handful of Android phones too), and at 240 fps even the most mundane activity becomes awesomely cinematic. Everything looks cool slowed down that much. Everything. This phone is a absolute buy for an Apple fan and people who got lots of bucks.

Apple MacBook Pro Retina Display 2015
Apple MacBook Pro (Retina Display) 2015 Review: Still The Best Higher-res Laptop, But The Competition is Catching Up
Apple MacBook Pro (Retina Display) 2015-For anyone complaining that Apple has not yet released any new products in the first eight months regarding 2014, we point you toward some underplayed but important updates towards Mac line regarding laptops and a desktop. Already this yr, weve seen processor bumps and price cuts to the 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Oxygen, a new lower-cost beginners 21. 5-inch iMac all-in-one desktop, and now comparable component upgrades and also price cuts towards MacBook Pro collection.

Apple MacBook Pro (Retina Display) 2015 |
The entry-level 13-inch and also 15-inch Retina products each doubled this included RAM, from 4GB to 8GB to the 13-inch, and 8GB to 16GB to the 15-inch. Both of these models also been given a slightly faster CPU, with the 15-inch type reviewed here going from a 2. 0GHz Intel Core i7 with a 2. 2GHz Core i7, but still from the same generation regarding Intel Core i-series processors (newer CPUs are required from Intel overdue this year).
Additionally, the higher-end 15-inch Retina Professional, the base type we reviewed in every one of the past two several years, dropped its selling price by $100, as a result of $2, 499; and also the lone non-Retina MacBook Professional, the positively historical 13-inch model through an optical drive and also relatively paltry 1, 280x800-pixel exhibit, also dropped it is price by $100, as a result of $1, 099.
The model were testing this is actually the entry-level (to grow the term) 15-inch Professional, which starts on $1, 999 (£1, 599, AU$2, 499 RRP) and includes these 2. 2GHz Core i7 CPU, 16GB regarding RAM, and 256GB regarding SSD storage. As opposed to the higher-end products weve reviewed inside previous years, this Pro doesnt always have a discrete Nvidia design card, relying as a substitute on Intels bundled Iris Pro design.

The small speed bump and added RAM get this a modest improvement in the 2013 version, but its critically the same machine. As that Retina MacBook Pro received an extremely strong recommendation as an excellent all-around high quality powerhouse, this kept up to date version does, way too, even if anyone in search of the next massive thing from Apple is going to be disappointed that that "new" Mac isnt really all that fresh.
Design and Features
The surface design of this MacBook Pro remains unchanged considering that the 2013 model most of us reviewed (and essentially unchanged from the 2012 original, seeing that well), so high of the analysis we wrote to the previous model remains unchanged.
This mobile computer is slim, but through an expansive footprint, and it can feel denser than it looks when youre getting started. The 15-inch MacBook Professional isnt exactly any carry-all-day-every-day package, although you possibly can tote it close to to and coming from work, or about day trips without having much trouble.

The 15-inch MacBook Professional isnt exactly any carry-all-day-every-day package, although you possibly can tote it close to to and coming from work, or about day trips without having much trouble.
The keyboard and also trackpad remain essentially much like seen on the past several generations regarding MacBook. Other notebooks have matched, but is not surpassed, the backlit Apple keyboard, with this possible exception regarding Lenovo, a company as associated with keyboard research and also development as any.
The large a glass trackpad, with it is multifinger gestures, remains a leader, even as Windows laptops go on to more touchscreen settings, at least partially to compensate for the hassle of having a touch pad along with Windows 8. A chance to do easy four-finger swipes, and also the no-lag scrolling in Web browsers, is something Mac users been able to brag on the verge of PC users. Regardless, some basic controls, such as tap-to-click, should be turned on automatically. Instead, I had to go into the settings menus and also tweak the touchpad and also accessibility settings to get the touchpad set up precisely how I like the item.
The 15-inch Retina Display remains a primary selling point, and Apple right now uses the Retina branding on the iPhone and iPad too. Some Windows laptops now choose even higher answers, and its not necessarily unreasonable to request when well notice this trickle as a result of the MacBook Oxygen line, perhaps as a rumored 12-inch higher-resolution type. The Retina screen includes a 2, 880x1, 800-pixel exhibit, and is on its best any time displaying text or perhaps professional photography. Video lessons rarely go past 1080p, and most Mac pc games cant exhibit higher resolutions to begin with.

Video lessons rarely go past 1080p, and most Mac pc games cant exhibit higher resolutions to begin with.
The Retina Screen looks great actually during everyday World-wide-web surfing, although youre more prone to notice the resolution difference when you compare with a non-Retina mobile computer. Other PC producers are joining this better-than-HD party too, with up to be able to 3, 200x1, 800-pixel-resolution products from Lenovo, Dell, and the like, and even the full 4K resolution 15-inch Satellite tv P50t from Toshiba. That competition indicates laptop buyers have found higher resolutions on lower costs, so the Retina screen the following is not quite the initial selling point it was a few years ago.
Connections, Performance, and also Battery
Many Macs now match proven PC port offerings more closely, on account of the the addition of Facts slots and HDMI ports in a few models. That definitely helps for individuals moving over from the Windows side, or for the people using such incredible tech hardware seeing that flatscreen monitors or unwanted cameras.
As in past years model, you get two USB 3. 0 places, two Thunderbolt 2 ports, which furthermore double as Tiny DisplayPort outputs, an Facts slot, and Bluetooth and 802. 11ac Wi-Fi. You wont find an optical get or Ethernet jack, but both of these are becoming significantly rare even inside 15-inch laptops.
The particular HDMI and Thunderbolt movie outputs can get two additional outside displays, at nearly 2, 560x1, 600 pixels, so you can set up any Retina MacBook Pro featuring a Retina screen sandwiched by means of two high-resolution outside monitors, and the item becomes quite this command center.
In our benchmark testing, you can rightly expect a premium laptop such as this to turn inside premium performance scores. Unlike the previous two 15-inch MacBook Professional models we tested, this is this lower-end (again, a hardcore term to use for the $2, 000 laptop) type, not the tough one version with faster CPUs and committed graphics hardware, however the recent CPU push helps, and this $1, 999 2014 MacBook Pro performed on the same as the $2, 599 2013 version we tested. The first 15-inch Retina Professional, from 2012, fell slightly behind in a few tests, as its CPU was from a previous Intel era.
The integrated Intel Eye Pro graphics arent likely to drive many high-end online games, especially at anything nearby the systems native 2, 880x1, 800 solution, but last years Tomb Raider reboot happened to run at 39. 6 fps at high detail settings when we dialed the resolution as a result of 1, 440x900 pixels.
Excellent battery life is a given for contemporary MacBooks, but without change to battery technology as well as a CPU from the same family as the prior generation, you shouldnt expect a noticeable difference over last years Professional. The new system ran for 9 hours and 21 minutes in our video playback battery power life test, while 15-inch 2013 MacBook Professional, which had some small component differences, but was general similar, ran for 9 hours and 52 minutes inside the same test.

Summary
Apple has silently upgraded almost your entire Mac lineup until now in 2014, minus the still-new Mac Pro desktop and also the often-overlooked Mac Tiny. Still, these updates are minor on best, and in many instances, not nearly as important since the price cuts some models (but not necessarily this one) have received concurrently.
At $1, 999 or more, the 15-inch Professional remains a large investment, and while using the 13-inch MacBook Air now as a result of a mere $999, it usually is tougher to vindicate, especially as the essential design and concepts behind it have become three generations aged.
Still, despite lacking new razzle dazzle, really the only slightly newish 15-inch MacBook Pro remains certainly one of our favorite high quality power-user laptops, on account of its solid unibody construction, excellent display, and also great all-around functionality.

Apple Watch is On The Verge To Get Launch
Apples banking on its Apple Watch to be a success but component issues may plague the launch, expected in March, according to an analyst.

Apples devices generally sell out upon release and it seems Apple Watch will be no different but Kuo said that component issues may cause supply problems for the watch. He expects Apple will sell 2.8 million Watches in March, and sell a total of five million devices in the first quarter of 2015.

The Apple Watch will come in three variants, each expected to differ in price point. The standard Watch will come in stainless steel, with the Apple Watch Sport in silver or space grey aluminum and the luxury Watch Edition will be available in rose or yellow 18 carat gold .
"Apple Watch is right there on your wrist, so it makes all the ways you’re used to communicating more convenient. And because it touches your skin, we were able to add a physical dimension to alerts and notifications – you’ll feel a gentle tap when you receive an incoming message,” Apple says of its most personal device.
Apple Watch is on the Brink to Launch
“Apple Watch also allows you to connect with your favorite people in some new, spontaneous ways not possible with any other device.”

Apple Watch to have 512MB RAM 4GB storage
A report out of investment research firm Cowen and Company has attempted to ascertain a more detailed look at the specifications of Apples Watch with an examination of the devices supply chain. At this stage of production, it has been revealed the watch will sport 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
The RAM will come by way of Samsung, Micron, and Hynix, while the 4GB of onboard DRAM is expected to be supplied by a number of major NAND manufacturers.
Timothy Arcuri of the Cowen Group believes that Apple could potentially ship a variant of the Apple Watch with 8GB of onboard memory, but it is likely that the 4GB model will be the standard configuration.
Also reported is a wireless combination chip similar to the iPhone 5ss Broadcom BCM43342, which sports a GPS radio. This goes against Apples announcement that the Watch will have to be tethered to an iPhone to provide GPS data, which means that it could either be a modified version that doesnt have a GPS sensor, or Apple will disable onboard GPS functionality to save on battery life.
More notably, Apple Watch will be one of the first smartwatches to feature a dedicated system-on-chip. Unlike other smartwatch models which use smartphone SoCs, Apples S1 SoC is expected to provide superior power efficiency due to its specific design. Either way, current reports indicate daily charging for the Apple Watch, but its likely Cupertino will be doing more work in that department leading up to the early 2015 launch date.

Apple Website Hacked
Apple developers website has just being hacked. This was reported by Apple to its developers on Thursday.

Apparently Apple believes that even though developers information and credentials are encrypted, it is also possible for the attacker to have gotten his or her hands on some information.
However, Apple noted that immediately this compromise was detected, the website was taken down.

"Last Thursday, an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer website. Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed, however, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers’ names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses may have been accessed. In the spirit of transparency, we want to inform you of the issue. We took the site down immediately on Thursday and have been working around the clock since then.
In order to prevent a security threat like this from happening again, we’re completely overhauling our developer systems, updating our server software, and rebuilding our entire database. We apologize for the significant inconvenience that our downtime has caused you and we expect to have the developer website up again soon."
Of course Apple is generally considered to have advanced security around all it offers which is one of the reasons some people choose Apple products over others. If an attacker was able to gain access to Apples website, it means that this attacker is super good and can be looking into having access to Apple App Store credentials which contains credit card information of customers.
Apple would definitely have to do all it can do to avoid any future compromise. Last thing Apple wants is for her products and services to be perceived vulnerable to hack attack.

Apple tipped to launch new iPad models and OS X Yosemite next month
According to a report by The Daily Dot, Apple will unveil new iPad models next month, on October 21. The latest OS X Yosemite is also expected to launch on the same date.
An October launch for the next generation Apple iPad family should hardly catch anyone by surprise. Cupertino pulled the same trick last year by launching iPad Air and iPad mini 2 a month after the iPhone 5s. Apple launched the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus last week.
Apple’s upcoming full-size tablet has leaked on a number of occasions in the past. The device will reportedly pack two gigs of RAM in order to be able to support splt-screen multitasking. A Touch ID sensor is also all but certain to appear on the device.
