iPhone Air Concept.

A report from The Wall Street Journal says that the next generation of iPhones, expected to be released this fall, will include new iPhones with larger screen. many sources spoke on that but this is the first solid indication that Apple could be launching phones in multiple screen sizes.

The report also says that Apple will scrap the plastic casing that it introduced with the iPhone 5c, and will instead have two models with metal outer casings similar to the current iPhone 5s.
Facing competition from rivals offering smartphones with bigger screens, Apple Inc. plans larger displays on a pair of iPhones due for release this year, people familiar with the situation said.

The people said Apple plans an iPhone model with a screen larger than 4½ inches measured diagonally, and a second version with a display bigger than 5 inches. Until now, Apples largest phone has been the 4-inch display on the iPhone 5.

Both new models are expected to feature metal casings similar to what is used on the current iPhone 5S, with Apple expected to scrap the plastic exterior used in the iPhone 5C, these people said.
According to WSJ’s sources the 4.5-inch iPhone 6 model is reportedly further along in development and being prepared for mass production. The larger 5-inch model version is still in preliminary development, and there are any curved display something that had been previously rumored.

asus ZenFone
Announced back in January at CES 2014, Asus’ new ZenFone 6 and ZenFone 5 handsets are available starting this week - although it looks like only customers in Taiwan can buy the devices for now.

The ZenFone 6 costs around $230 (6,990 TWD) in Taiwan, while the ZenFone 5 is priced at $166 (4,990 TWD). Both were launched in Taiwan before being introduced in other markets because this is Asus’ home country. China is probably one of the markets that will get the new smartphones next. According to Focus Taiwan, Asus CFO David Chang “predicted” that 5 million ZenFone handsets would be sold around the world before the end of 2014.

The ZenFone 6 and ZenFone 5 run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (upgradeable to KitKat), and are powered by dual-core 2GHz Intel Atom Z2580 processors. The former model sports a 6-inch 720p display, while the latter comes with a 5-inch 720p screen. You can check out our Asus ZenFone 6 hands-on here, and our Asus ZenFone 5 hands-on here.

Asus also has a ZenFone 4, which features a 4-inch WVGA display. This is obviously cheaper than the other two ZenFones, and should be available starting this month, too.

Google’s Nexus 6 snapped again this time next to iPhone 6 Plus

The fast-approaching Nexus 6 has just had another early debut, with the latest leak showing off an actual handset.

Google Nexus 6

Until now we’ve mostly seen renders of the device, but the new image has a Nexus 6 sitting alongside Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus.

The key thing to take from this is screen size – Apple’s blower is huge at 5.5-inch, but the giant Nexus 6 trumps Apple’s cellular at 5.9-inch.

Despite the 0.4-inch difference in display size, the Nexus 6 doesn’t actually look that much bigger than the iPhone 6 Plus, largely due to its comparatively svelte bezels.

It also looks like a sized-up 2nd-gen Moto X – no surprise, as Motorola is reckoned to be the firm behind the latest Nexus-stamped Google handset.

There’s not much else we can glean from this picture as the purported Nexus smartphone isn’t even turned on.

When we do finally see some working Nexus 6 handsets, we’re expecting it to be the flagship carrier of Google’s next mobile OS – Android L.

Most technophiles reckon the new software will be called Android Lollipop, and will tout Google’s flatter, simpler ‘material design’ aesthetic introduced at Google I/O.

Yesterday we saw a leaked render of the Nexus 6 that showed off the new OS and the handset’s mega-screen, courtesy of Evleaks.

We also heard that Google would launch the handset at some point today, alongside HTC’s Nexus 9 tablet, although the search engine giant’s not let anything slip just yet.

In terms of specs, there’s whispers of a 2.65GHz Snapdragon 805 processor, a 2560 x 1440 display, and a meaty 3200mAh li-ion battery.
