Trade and Grade Sight Word Practice Pages!

Thanks for stopping by on your "trade and grade" blog hop journey! I had the pleasure of trading products with the lovely Lauren over at A Teachable Teacher. She has an AWESOME Sight Word Practice Pages Pack that I was lucky enough to get to use in my classroom and then share pictures here with all of you :)

I used this pack with my kiddos the week before Spring Break when my kids were definitely not as focused and needed something new to keep their attention. We were also reviewing color words that week, and Laurens pack was the perfect addition to our curriculum! My plan was to do one of these sight word pages with my kids early in the week so that they could learn the routine of how to do them, and then be able to use the pages during independent morning work for the rest of the week.

The first page I chose to do with my kids was on the word pink. We hadnt had a lot of practice with this word, so I thought that this would be a great way to start! We started off by tracing the word with our finger a few times:

Then, we wrote the word, and found it in the sentence.
My kids LOVED getting to use the color pink to circle the word.

The next step was writing our own sentence. I chose to have my kiddos independently create a sentence as it is later in the school year, and they are all able to do this by now! (Yay!)

After my kids had finished up their sentences, I let them share with a partner, and THEN I called on students to bring up their paper and put it under the document camera so that their sentence would be projected on the big screen. They next got to read their sentence to us, and then we repeated it after them. This was a BIG hit! My kids love to play teacher. :)

The last step for this worksheet was cutting and pasting the letters to the word in order, and making sure that my kids felt confident in reading the word pink.

I love love LOVE the last self-assessment portion of this worksheet; the kids have to decide with a thumbs up or down whether or not they feel confident reading this word.

I was glad that ALL of my kids confidently colored the thumbs up yes! As a teacher, that tells me that they feel comfortable reading the word pink.

The second time I used one of these worksheets with my kiddos, I let them do it independently for morning work:

I was so PROUD that they ALL remembered the directions for the worksheet. :)

I was even able to use the self-assess part to do some RE-TEACHING that morning! A couple of my kiddos turned in their worksheet with the thumbs down colored. I pulled these kids and we studied and used the word blue in another sentence, and they were soon feeling more confident!
Did I mention that I LOVE the self-assess part of these worksheets!? :)

Now for the fun part!
